A Formal Dinner Party with the Bridgertons

When it comes to putting together a Bridgerton inspired formal dining table – it's all about the attention to detail and providing every guest with everything they might desire for a decadent menu of the very best food and wine. You'll want to cater for every need, so including white wine, red wine, water glasses and dessert wine glasses on the table is an absolute must.

You'll want your very best formal china and the complete set, of course. Think bread plate, starter plate, soup bowl, dinner plate and dessert plate. There's to be no holding back here. It also goes without saying that formal cutlery (preferable sterling silver, or silver plated) for every course is polished and presented. The same rules apply when planning a luxury wedding - the aim is that your guests don't have to lift a finger.

Building a wedding list, is the perfect opportunity to add a beautiful set of formal china that you will have for a lifetime. Our go-to brands include Bernardaud, Gien, Wedgwood and Royal Copenhagen.

Finishing touches on your formal table must include the crispest of linens and those all important details. Think sterling silver place name holders with hand calligraphy name cards, cut glass or sterling silver candle sticks, salt and pepper pinch pots and of course a beautiful floral display. These tiny but oh-so-important details apply to planning a luxury wedding tablescape, to give it that real wow factor.

Afternoon Tea with the Queen

For an afternoon tea fit for a Queen, leave the mugs in the kitchen. Only the very best formal tea set will do. Always make a pot of tea, serve milk in a jug and serve sugar in a bowl. You teacup simply must have a saucer. Serve any cakes or delicacies on your best platters and plates, and really go to town on those finishing touches; dress your table with your best table linen and a vase of flowers. Remember, more is more.

Afternoon tea was traditionally how high society celebrated their luxury wedding celebrations. Nowadays, more often than not the afternoon tea is replaced by a Champagne and Canapé reception.
